Okul Öncesi Öğretmenlerinin Velilerle Yaşadığı Problemler
Abstract
With the increasing importance given to pre-school education in Turkey, the problems faced by teachers working in this field have been examined. In the research, various difficulties experienced by preschool teachers were discussed in detail and the effects of these problems on the quality of preschool education were investigated. The research was conducted through interviews with 21 preschool teachers and presented a descriptive situation analysis. The findings revealed that incompatibilities existed between preschool teachers and administrators and that the working conditions of these teachers differed significantly from those of general teachers. In particular, negative consequences such as having to be together with students all the time, uninterrupted working conditions, not getting enough rest, and difficulties in communicating with other teachers have been identified. In this context, it is recommended to increase the number of auxiliary personnel in order to improve the working conditions of preschool teachers and increase educational efficiency. Cooperation between teachers and parents is an important factor in the educational process of children. However, various problems may arise in the relationships between preschool teachers and parents. This article will focus on common problems that preschool teachers experience with parents. The first problem is lack of communication. When effective communication cannot be established between teachers and parents, important information about the child's education may be lost. Parents' lack of information about their children's development and
teachers' failure to share detailed information about their children with parents may result in a lack of communication. Second, differences in expectations can create problems. Parents' and teachers' expectations about their children's education may be incompatible. Failure of teachers to reach a common understanding with parents about setting appropriate expectations for students may be the beginning of problems. Third, there may be time management difficulties. Conflicts between teachers' busy work schedules and parents' daily lives can make it difficult to create the time necessary for effective collaboration. This may result in low attendance at parent-teacher meetings and delay resolution of problems. As a result, such problems between preschool teachers and parents can negatively affect the educational process of children. To solve these problems, it is important to adopt solution-oriented approaches to establishing open communication between the parties, sharing expectations and finding the appropriate time for cooperation. In this way, they can support children's development in a healthy educational environment and strengthen family-school cooperation.
