Okul Öncesi Öğretmenlerinin Veli İletişiminde Sosyal Medya Araçlarını Kullanmalarına İlişkin Görüşleri
Abstract
The primary aim of this study is to thoroughly examine preschool teachers' perspectives on the use of social media tools in parent communication. This research is significant as it highlights the communication practices of preschool teachers in an era of rapidly advancing technology. Another important aspect of the study is its contribution to increasing parental involvement in early childhood education and strengthening school-family collaboration through new approaches. A phenomenological research design, one of the qualitative research methods, was employed to investigate preschool teachers' perspectives on social media use in parent communication. The study group consists of 14 preschool teachers working in Ankara during the 2024-2025 academic year. A semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers was used as the data collection tool. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis, a qualitative data analysis technique. The findings indicate that WhatsApp plays a vital role in digital communication due to its speed, accessibility, and large user base, establishing itself as a strong interaction platform in both educational and social contexts. Additionally, the integration of digital communication tools into education enhances the interaction between parents and schools, facilitating faster and more effective information exchange.
Key Words: Preschool teacher, social media, parent communication.
