ÇOCUKLUK ÇAĞI TRAVMALARI İLE ROMANTİK İLİŞKİLERDE ÇATIŞMA ÇÖZÜM STİLLERİ ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİDE DUYGU İFADE ETMENİN ARACI ROLÜ
Özet
The main objective of this study is to examine the mediating role of emotion expression level in the relationship between childhood traumas and conflict resolution styles exhibited in adult romantic relationships. The sample consists of 311 adult individuals with romantic relationship experience, reached through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the "Childhood Trauma Scale," the "Conflict Resolution Styles in Romantic Relationships Scale," and the "Emotion Expression Scale." Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis methods were applied in the analysis of the obtained data. According to the research findings, a significant negative relationship was found between childhood traumas and positive conflict resolution and emotion expression, while a significant positive relationship was found between childhood traumas and negative conflict resolution, submission, and withdrawal styles. The results of the mediating role analysis revealed that the emotion expression level played a full mediating role in the relationship between childhood traumas and negative conflict resolution, submission, and withdrawal styles; and a partial mediating role in the relationship with positive conflict resolution style. These results demonstrate that traumatic experiences in childhood not only directly affect the quality of relationships in adulthood but also indirectly impair conflict resolution processes by disrupting an individual's ability to express emotions. The study highlights the importance of improving emotion regulation and expression skills in individuals with a history of trauma in clinical interventions.
