Abstract
Review of Graduate Thesis on the Ethical Behavior of School Principals
The purpose of this study is to systematically examine postgraduate theses prepared on the ethical behaviors of school principals and evaluate these theses based on their distribution by years, universities, methods, data collection tools, sample sizes, and sampling methods. This study addresses the review of postgraduate theses on school principals' ethical behaviors by employing content analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. The population of the research consists of 39 academic theses on leadership styles available in the Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Descriptive analysis was used for data analysis. According to the findings, the increasing academic interest in ethical leadership in recent years indicates a growing understanding of the importance of ethical approaches in educational administration. The preference for quantitative methods and surveys in research is associated with the effort to achieve generalizable results, while the limited use of qualitative and mixed methods suggests a lack of contextual and in-depth analyses. Studies involving large sample groups stand out, whereas the number of studies focusing on small-scale and context-specific issues is relatively low. Random sampling is the predominant sampling method, although other methods emphasizing diversity have also been utilized. Overall, an increase in the number of studies and methodological diversity on ethical behaviors is observed, indicating opportunities to enrich the literature through the promotion of qualitative methods, inter-university collaborations, and more context-specific analyses.
Key Words: School principals, ethical behaviors, content analysis.
